CEO of DFRobot
After graduating from The University of Nottingham with Doctor Degree in Robotics, Ricky joined Robotics Institute as a researcher. He was the key researcher in developing the next generation robotic assembly line for aerospace, a collaborated project with Airbus and Rolls Royce. He was also involved in several EU projects to explore the possibility of applying robots for high value manufacturing. He built a robot community "RoboticFan" which had over 30,000 members in 2004. He initiated an Open Hardware project “HCR” in 2008, which is the first successful crowd funded robot project in the world. He came back to China in 2009 and founded DFRobot as CEO till now. He and his company are focused on Home Robotics, AI technologies and applications, maker movement and maker education.
Since 2014, he works to promote the development of maker education in China, and is honored as the vice president of China Maker Education Alliance in 2016. Meanwhile, he is featured as one of the international speakers at Polycon, an international digital media arts festival organized by the One-Academy at Bandar Sunway and Kuala Lumpur in 2016.
